Choosing a
conservatory -
What to look for |
 |
 |
| |
"A conservatory can bring endless
pleasure..."

If well chosen it will - create more living space, allow you to enjoy the changes of natural sunlight, give you a relaxing environment, enhance your home's exterior and interior, and at the same time increase the value of your property -it's often the most affordable way of getting extra room in your home too...

Having the conservatory located next to a well-used room, like the kitchen or living room is a popular choice. If you plan to dine
regularly in your conservatory, it will be much more convenient to be close to the kitchen rather than having to troop through the
house with hot food. Whereas for many people their top priority with a conservatory is a good view of their garden.
Which direction your house is facing is important, as this will determine the amount of light and heat you receive from the sun. |
|
| West or east-facing is generally considered the ideal siting, but with extra shading and ventilation most problems with orientation
can be overcome. North-facing receives the least sunlight, which means heating will be more important probably than blinds.
A south-facing conservatory may get very hot in the summer, so good ventilation and blinds become more necessary.
The decisions you make will depend on the design of your property, your lifestyle needs, and ultimately the budget and space
available. |
